CNR CATCH REPORT - FP BEGINNER POND

Fishing Paradise@ORTO is known for its hard-fighting monster fishes, but did you know that there is a Beginner Pond available too? The Beginner Pond is suitable for any age, including kids and it is also very affordable! The team goes to test out the Beginner Pond at FP and here's the catch report.

The FreshwaterCNR team met up at Khatib MRT Station for a trip to FP's Beginner Pond. We only brought $6 with us as we planned to only catch one fish. The team walked to FP after everyone arrived. (FP is a 10-15 mins walk away from Khatib MRT, it is a very convenient pond indeed!)

From this angle, the RTC hotspot is at the far end of the pond.

We arrived at FP shortly and we were greeted by the friendly staff. Edmund Kong, the boss of FP, was around and he offered to help us land a decent-sized Red Tail Catfish at the Beginner Pond.

Edmund Kong, the boss of FP. A friendly guy indeed!

Edmund passed the rod to Andriel and he directed him to cast the liver to the RTC hotspot. We only needed to wait for a few seconds before Andriel set the hook. The fish had taken the liver and it dashed to the middle of the pond, pulling out line like there was no drag at all. Steering the fish near the edge of the water was hard as it was very strong.

The RTC is never an easy fish to fight. It is a very stocky fish that, once hooked, speeds off and pulling out a lot of line. Its stamina is also incredible and some time is needed to subdue it.

Waiting for the bite from the RTC...we did not have to wait long!

After a gruelling 5 mins, the fish was brought up to the surface of the water. It was a decent-sized RTC indeed! Edmund thought it was the largest RTC in the Beginner Pond, a whopping 16kg specimen. (In a Beginner Pond!) It turned out to be a smaller specimen but it was still a feisty fighter.

The brightly coloured tail of the RTC appears! Check out that powerful tail kick as it dives down into the murky waters!

This fearsome beast was subdued around a minute later and it turned out to be smaller than we all thought! The RTC caught was not Andriel's personal best at 10.3kg, but it was still pretty heavy at around 6kg. Nonetheless, it put up a really great fight and that was all that mattered.

The RTC is exhausted. Time to scoop it up!

Gotcha!

Andriel poses with the RTC. What a beautiful red tail! (Pun intended)
